Swank talks Montblanc collaboration

Hilary Swank has gushed about her collaborative charity effort with luxury company Montblanc.

The Hollywood actress looked stunning in a Giambattista Valli dress and Montblanc jewellery when she attended a pre-Oscar charity brunch to celebrate the Montblanc and UNICEF Signature For Good 2013 initiative.

Hilary – who was at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles – was honoured at the event, and gushed about her trip with Montblanc International chief executive officer Lutz Bethge to Ethiopia last year.

‘Every child deserves a fighting chance in life. Education is everything – if you have an education you have a better opportunity to overcome obstacles and have a fighting chance. There is no doubt that teaching is the most important job in the world,’ she told WWD.

Hilary was joined at the honorary event by a host of stars including Emmy Rossum, Alyssa Milano and Rosario Dawson. The Signature For Good range features special-edition writing instruments, jeweler and leather accessories emblazoned with a brick design.

The motif is ‘to symbolise the joint effort to build a better future by improving access to education, including the brick-by-brick construction of schools.’

Hilary gushed about the $4 million Montblanc has raised in the last year at the brunch, adding to the audience: ‘The enthusiasm and the warmth of the children stayed with me. After my visit I am now convinced more than ever that education is everything.’

Next month, a selection of the proceeds from each piece sold will be donated to raise money for UNICEF’s education programs in a number of countries, including Asia, Latin America and Africa.
