Julianne Moore’s ‘The English Teacher’ Acquired by Cinedigm and Tribeca Film

Directed by TV helmer Craig Zisk, the film also stars Nathan Lane, Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins and Michael Angarano.

Cinedigm Entertainment Group and Tribeca Film have teamed up to acquire U.S. distribution rights to director CraigZisk’s The English Teacher.

The film, which stars Julianne Moore, will be released in spring 2013 with an ultra VOD and digital window, followed by theatrical release, DVD and broadcast.

Moore plays a beloved English teacher whose repressed personal life exists in stark contrast to the passion she brings to the classroom. Her routine is upended when a former star pupil returns to her small town after failing miserably as a playwright.

Written by Dan Chariton and Stacy Chariton, The English Teacher also stars Nathan LaneGreg Kinnear, Lily Collins and Michael Angarano.

The film is produced by Matthew E. ChausseNaomi DespresBen LeClair and Robert Salerno.

The English Teacher marks the feature directorial debut for Zisk, whose TV helming credits includeNurse Jackie and Weeds.Scordino negotiated the deal with Tribeca Film’s director of acquisitions Nick Savva.
